i used the same idea (cutting the bottle), and used a sm. lens i found, made the hole in the cap bigger, and the lens fit perfectly! the clear neck of the bottle lets light come in, and the magnification is really good! and, i can turn the bottle upside down, and place the bottle over my eye, and use it like a loupe! really good ideas!
